THE JAPAN FOUNDATION
The Japan Foundation was established in 1972, by the Japanese government with the aim of fostering international cooperation and understanding through cultural exchange.
  The Foundation continues to pursue this goal today, with special emphasis placed on the following areas:
  • Arts and cultural exchange.
  • Japanese−language education; and
  • Japanese studies and intellectual exchange.

  •   Its activities include the sponsorship and support of a variety of programs designed to introduce Japanese culture abroad, such as participation in international book fairs, and the financial assistance programs for translation and publication of works that promote a deeper understanding of Japan.


    PUBLISHERS ASSOCIATION FOR CULTURAL EXCHANGE, JAPAN
    Founded in 1953, the Publishers Association for Cultural Exchange (PACE) is a non-profit organization whose members are drawn from representative publishing houses and related industries in Japan. Its activities are aimed at promoting cultural exchange between Japan and other countries through the exchange of publications. As it comes under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it cooperates closely in its work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the Japan Foundation.
      Its activities include (1) organizing Japanese participation in international book fairs, (2) organizing Japanese book exhibitions overseas, and (3) producing and distributing catalogs to introduce Japanese publishers and their products to the world.
